Baltic Amber gems were not only valued for their unique beauty but also for their healing and protective qualities. Amber is treated as a medicinal substance, and many healing elixirs have been made with it down through the ages.

Baltic amber warms against the skin, releasing it’s therapeutic properties safely and naturally. Amber‘s electrostatic properties are used for healing. It is a natural ionizer and is able to produce negative ions which help to ease pain and stimulate the healing process. Baltic Amber is also known to provide protection from harmful radiation emitted from computers, cell phones, microwave ovens and electrical devices.

Amber is a powerful chakra cleanser and healer. At a physical level, is imbues the body with vitality and has the power to draw disease out of the body. Succinic acid

Baltic amber has high concentrations of a unique substance known as succinic acid. This powerful antioxidant helps eliminate free radicals and discourages disruptions of the cardiac rhythm. Succinic acid has been shown to stimulate neural system recovery and bolster the immune system. It helps restore strength and energy to the entire body and enhances brain function, thereby improving awareness, concentration, reflexes, and reducing stress. Succinic acid is commercially produced, widely used and approved for use by the United States Food and Drug Administration. Baltic amber is naturally high in this substance, and is one of the most important natural sources of succinic acid in the world.

THE CREATION OF AMBER

Amber is the fossilised resin from ancient forests. Although considered a gem, amber is a wholly-organic material derived from the resin of extinct species of trees. Amber is not produced from tree sap, but rather from plant resin and the ancient resin of trees. The resin has gone through a number of changes over millions of years. The result of this metamorphosis is an exceptional gem with extraordinary properties and is used by both craftsmen and scientist. Amber, which is in fact a fossil, is often held in the same class as semi-precious stones such as turquoise and jade because of its ornamental uses. Unlike these stones, amber is not mineralized. Rather, it is simply the fossil of resin.

In the dense forests of the Middle Cretaceous and Tertiary periods, between 10 and 100 million years ago, these resin-bearing trees fell and were carried by rivers to coastal regions. There, the trees and their resins became covered with sediment, and over millions of years the resin hardened into amber. Although many amber deposits remain in ocean residue, geological events often repositioned the amber elsewhere.  Most of the amber that exists today is between 30 and 90 million years old. Resin that is only semi-fossilized is referred to as copal or sub-fossil amber.  Amber from this source can be found on the East Coast of Britain all the way to the far shores of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The Baltic amber deposits range between 35 to 40 million years old and is without the largest source of amber yet discovered.

The main producer of amber worldwide is Russia. In fact about 90% of the world’s available amber is located in the Kaliningrad region of Russia, which is located on the Baltic. Here, amber is washed up on the coast after being dislodged from the ocean floor by years of water and ocean currents. Amber can also be found in the forests of Ukraine. Ukranian amber, which is found within the marshy forest floor in the area surrounding the Volhyn-Polesie border, is prized for its wide range of tones and colors.

Amber is still widely used in jewelry and ornament today. Many jewellers who create stately designs enjoy working with amber because such large pieces are available. Furthermore, amber is significantly less expensive than gemstones. Because of the color range within amber, a necklace made of amber beads can include a stunning arrangement of tones and hues.

Chinese herbalists know the importance of using natural Baltic amber in many of their medications and they buy amber directly from Poland to add to their natural and herbal medicine cures, which they use in powder form.

It is interesting to note that the Chinese rely on pure, natural Baltic Amber. They have found what science has proven and that is that the Amber Acid from Natural Baltic Amber is the active agent and that they need Natural Baltic Amber for their remedies to be effective. Simply stated, even unripe gooseberries and rhubarb stalks, which are the richest in the natural acid, contain a thousand times less of the acid than in Baltic amber- succinite.

The micronization of amber improves its assimilation by the stress-weakened organism of contemporary mankind. The unfavourable environmental conditions prevailing today block the natural flow of energy-related processes in cells. This is confirmed by research carried out by a Kaliningrad-based doctor, Nikolai Moshkov (2002). He obtained fast and fully effective therapeutic results by rubbing very fine powder form pure energizing amber into the ill places (head, spine, thyroid gland, chest, limbs).
