Fresh Fruit Cobbler

3 cups fruit (peeled, pitted and sliced)
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water

Method
Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan and line with fruit.
Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, margarine, vanilla and milk.
Stir till smooth.
Pour over peaches.
Combine 1 cup sugar and water.
Pour over batter.
Bake 1 hour at 350°F.
Serve warm or room temperature.
